Fasciola hepatica adult - large distome with conical projection and shoulders 30x13mm, commonly in sheep, goats and cattle but also occasionally humans in the liver and aberrant infections in other organs such as lung. To examine: Whole flukes should be fixed in hot 5 percent formalin. Flatworms need to be stained with Mayers haemalum, dehydrated, cleared and mounted. Measurements are vital for id of parasites.
